TRAIN SMART! ⁣ ⁣ We live in time where we focus a lot on how hard workouts are, how intense they are, how long they are, and how painful they are. Yes, these workouts have their benefits for sure! ⁣ ⁣ But we forget that we also need the slow, gentle, low intensity workouts too. ⁣ ⁣ So many of us are stressed in our day to day lives, that often smashing a tough workout on top of that is just adding more stress on the body! ⁣ ⁣ I believe a whole wellness approach to one’s fitness should be considered. Me running towards my fears....! ⁣ ⁣ It’s the thing successful people tend to do, and unsuccessful people don’t. ⁣ ⁣ Feel the fear, but do it anyway. ⁣ ⁣ In other words, stepping outside your comfort zone, pushing your limits, and your boundaries. ⁣ ⁣ It’s very easy cruising through life listening to what fear will tell us. That we’re not good enough. That we can’t do that. We can’t achieve that. ⁣ ⁣ It’s hard to lean into the unknown, to try new things, to flirt with failure, and to test yourself. But this is the path that leads to personal growth. ⁣ ⁣ Whatever it is in your life that you’re going after, you have to go for it! Don’t hold back. Life is too short and one day you’ll look back and regret never taking action.⁣ ⁣ It’s regret that scares me the most. And tell me what’s worse, the vulnerability of trying? GOOD & BAD things I learnt about being VERY LEAN!... ⁣ ⁣ This post will continuously contradict itself, but maybe that shows that naturally nothing is ever 100% positive or negative, if you’re able to use the experience and take the lessons. ⁣ ⁣ GOOD ????⁣ - The sense of achievement knowing that it wasn’t easy but yet I still achieved it through all the obstacles was very rewarding. Nothing and no one can take that pride away. ⁣ - I learnt so much about myself in the process; my mind, what I’m capable of physically & mentally and how far I can push myself, and that I could do it again. ⁣ - I learnt a lot about training and nutrition for fat loss & aesthetics, and going through that experience equips me for helping others achieve results.⁣ - That I can achieve these results healthily, naturally, and go against the popular thought that you have zero energy and feel crap. I felt awesome! ⁣ - The obsessive nature of my habits made me realise how focused I could be in something and it was amazing! Made me realise that maybe 100% is better than 90/10 or 80/20? #balance?... (this deserves a conversation of its own)⁣ ⁣ BAD ⁣???? - The biggest one for me, is that because I’ve seen myself in this shape before, nothing ever quite feels or looks good enough in comparison to what I’ve achieved before, even though I’m in good shape now. ⁣ - The restrictive nature of this lifestyle inevitably created a restriction / binge cycle for me. This took time to re coach an unhealthy eating approach into the balance that I can confidently execute today. ⁣ - My physique being priority no.1 for me meant that it was easier to just not go out, or if I did then I’d be drinking water or Diet Coke or bringing prepped food... not cool. ⁣ - Mental strength is good, but I feel that forcing myself into being mentally strong can trigger a massive bounce back / yo-yo effect. Often an issue many people face in dieting culture! ⁣ ⁣ Look, I feel that in today’s environment, training to look good can get frowned upon. ⁣ I train to look good and I’m not ashamed to say that, however a part of that is also to be strong, to be healthy, functional, fit, mentally productive, confident AND body confident!
